Childcare Vouchers Saved
07/12/2009 by Ed.
Great News for working parents: The government has backed down on its proposal to abolish vouchers and deny parents valuable tax relief. It has announced that it will not phase out the tax relief on Childcare Vouchers across the board as previously planned.
Instead, it intends to allow tax relief for everyone on all basic rate tax, only removing the ability to claim on higher rate tax. This means that all working parents will have the same access to Childcare Vouchers, regardless of their tax status. Over 92,000 people signed a petition on the Downing Street website to keep Childcare Vouchers; many wrote to their MP, others still provided case studies for the media. That’s the power of collective bargaining!
